Payments, Refunds & Cancellation

Last updated: 19 October 2026

Zakr is software that helps South African tradespeople create quotes and invoices. There are two different kinds of payment on Zakr, and different rules apply to each. This page explains both. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

1. Zakr Pro subscription

You pay Zakr R75 per month for the Pro plan. Payment is taken securely by PayFast; we never see or store your card details. Zakr also has a free plan that needs no payment details.

2. Cancelling Pro

You can cancel at any time, with no cancellation fee. After you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again. Your account and your documents stay available on the free plan.

3. Refunds on Pro

If you are not happy with Pro, email us within 7 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. After that, we do not refund part-months, but we will refund any amount charged in error (for example a duplicate charge or a charge after you cancelled). Refunds are paid back to the original payment method and usually reach you within 7 to 10 business days.

4. When your customer pays you through Zakr

Tradespeople can let their customers pay invoices and deposits online by card or EFT. These payments are processed by Paystack and paid out to the tradesperson's own bank account, less Paystack's processing fee and a small Zakr platform fee of 0.4%. The tradesperson sees this breakdown before switching online payments on.

Zakr only provides the software. The work or goods being paid for are supplied by the tradesperson, who is the seller.

5. Refunds and cancellations on work or deposits

Refunds, cancellations and disputes about the work, goods or a deposit are between the customer and the tradesperson, and follow the terms of their quote or invoice and South African consumer law. Customers should contact the tradesperson first; their details are on the quote or invoice.

Where a tradesperson agrees to refund an online payment, they can ask us to process it and we will help. If you paid through Zakr and cannot resolve a problem with the tradesperson, email disputes@zakr.co.za and we will look into it, and where possible assist with a chargeback or payment dispute, within 5 business days.

6. Failed or duplicate payments

If a payment fails, you are not charged. If you were charged but your invoice still shows as unpaid, or you were charged twice, email us the invoice number and the payment reference and we will sort it out.
